Cryoliposculpt is a technique that makes it possible to definitively reduce the number of fat cells, exactly as it happens with liposuction, but with the difference of being a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment. Frequently asked questions
What is the Cryoliposculpt treatment?
During the Cryoliposculpt procedure, the adipose tissue is cooled to induce a lipolysis process, namely the destruction of only the fat cells, in order to reduce the adipose tissue and restore the elasticity of the skin without damaging other tissues. At the same time the area under treatment can be subjected to contraction currents, modulated and with different shapes and impulses, emitted sequentially.
What happens during the Cryoliposculpt treatment?
1. A protective membrane is placed on the area to be treated.
2. The area to be treated is suctioned into the applicator. Up to four applicators can be used simultaneously to treat up to four areas in the same session. The tissue to be treated is held in position between two “plates” through suction, and isolated from the surrounding tissue.
3. The vacuum effect increases blood flow in the treated area.
4. In the tissue in contact with the cooling plates, the fat cells are frozen.
5. A sequence of modulated and differently shaped pulse currents pass through the tissue between the two plates, thus generating involuntary contractions.
6. Depending on the area to be treated (face or body), the duration of the treatment can vary between 30 to 60 minutes. When the treatment ends, the adipose tissue is gradually disposed of in a natural way through phagocytosis.
Which areas are commonly treated?
The abdomen, hips, the so-called “love handles”, inner and outer thighs, arms, back, under-chin adiposity (i.e. double chin) and areas where skin elasticity needs to be restored.
How many treatments are needed?
Depending on the area to be treated and individual needs, 3 to 6 treatments may be necessary. There should be a time interval of at least 30 days between treatments on the same area. The treatment can be used on patients of all skin types and ages.
What can be expected during the treatment?
At first, when the handpiece is placed on the area to be treated, one may feel a slight discomfort. After controlled cooling of the tissue and the contraction effect generated by the modulated currents, one may feel a slight burning and tingling sensation. Then, the treated area is numb and cold, and when the applicator is removed the treated area may feel frozen to the touch. A light massage quickly reduces this sensation.
What can be expected after a treatment?
A few days after treatment the treated fat cells begin a process called “apoptosis” and begin to shrink in number. These cells are then slowly absorbed by the body within a few months. Some undesirable effects may occur after treatment: reddening that usually lasts about 30 to 60 minutes, temporary bruising, swelling, decreased sensitivity and temporary numbness of the treated area, and a slight tingling.
How safe and effective is the treatment?
Scientific studies show that fat reduction varies between 25-40 % and the patient satisfaction rate is between 80 – 90 %. It is non-invasive and there is no need for needles, scalpels or incisions. In addition, it does not require anesthesia or medication and there is no recovery time.
When are the results visible?
Clinical studies have shown that results are generally visible after about 45 days. For final results, it may take between 8 weeks and 6 months.
